Kayaking around Khao Sok

ACCOMODATION: PLENPRAI FLOATING BUNGALOWS
DAYS SPENT: 1

Coming from Bangkok, it may be a long journey on the overnight train then a van and a boat journey, but Khao Sok National Park is one of the most magical places in Thailand. As a backpacker who can't handle bugs, I'd say having to deal with the cockroaches on the overnight train was worth it to see this amazing place.

This experience was arranged by Intro Travel on my Thai Intro tour but many people made a day trip here. You don't have to stay if the floating bungalows are out of your budget as most activities would just be done in the day too. You probably wouldn't need longer than a day here either as all you do is relax.

Views of our boat journey
Take a journey on a longtail boat
You get the authentic experience of going on a longtail boat and are surrounded by blue waters and limestone cliffs that are slowly being covered by the new green life growing on them. You could also stop for an open water swim, but the water is pretty cold as the National Park isn't as hot as other places in Thailand.

Plenprai Floating Bungalows
Stay in floating bungalows
It's definitely an experience whilst you get used to the feeling of your room  and the paths gently rocking wherever you go. It isn't anything major though, so you don't need to worry about getting sea sick! The only thing to be warned is when using the shower, be careful as you'll have to focus on balancing whilst washing yourself. And also, bin your empty food wrappers in the bin outside or the ants will somehow invade the packet in your room (speaking from experience)!

Chang in hand!
Enjoy the views in a tube or a kayak
With it being a very relaxed place where all you can do is enjoy the views from the water, you can take a rubber ring or a kayak for a deposit and explore further away from your bungalows. There are lots of islands that you can kayak through and if you have a waterproof camera, you can get some great Instagram material. There are several currents so you do need to wear a life jacket when going further than the bungalows when swimming.

Appreciating the view from our bungalow
This is the kind of place when travelling that makes you realise what an amazing thing it is that you're doing. To even experience these kind of views is a dream and I would say if you're going to Thailand, you can't miss Khao Sok!
