The beauty of Vang Vieng
Vang Vieng is known as a place of party to backpackers but there is a lot more to do there with it being such a scenic place. The small town is based on the Nam Song River and is surrounded by limestone mountains and caves.
Visit the many lagoons
The lagoons are all a stunning bluey-green colour and are refreshing when being in the sun. They all have great views around them but all have something different to offer. Lagoon 3 is more for those who love activities with it offering ziplines, swing ropes, tubes and bamboo rafts. Lagoon 5 (above) is more chilled out, not attracting many tourist. It also has a ladder to a 7m cliff jump into the lagoon for those wanting an adrenaline rush.
Tube down the Nam Song River whilst bar hopping

Everyday, hundreds of backpackers rent a tube, sign their life away and get a tuk tuk to tube and bar hop down the Nam Song River. Although this used to be dangerous, the Laos government have got more strict with this by only having a certain number of bars open and someone to help tubers out at the end. The current is quite strong so try not to take anything valuable as it's hard to hold on to all of your things whilst holding your tube and trying to fight the current.
Stay at Nana's Backpacker's Hostel

This is very much a party hostel that offers free Laos whisky during happy hour! It's right near the bus station, a short walk from the night markets and bars/clubs. It's a great place for backpackers as it has a sociable atmosphere and the staff are more than happy to help you organise your itinerary whilst you're in Vang Vieng.
Hike up Silver Cliff for sunrise/sunset

Around a 20 minute tuk tuk drive from the centre, the hike up to this amazing viewpoint is worth losing your breath for. It's a beautiful view point that overlooks the small town and the limestone mountains of Vang Vieng. This town has the best sunsets as well, which would be a great time to hike as it won't be the hottest time of day!
