TIME SPENT: 2 DAYS, 3 NIGHTS
The Phi Phi Islands are stunning with the crystal clear waters and limestone cliffs. It's one of the most popular destinations in Southern Thailand and once you're there, you know why. Apart from exploring the natural beauty of the islands, here's some things you can do in the while.
Clear turquoise waters of Phi Phi |
Explore the beach, night and day
The main island, Koh Phi Phi, is so tiny that you can walk to the beach within 10 minutes. The water is so clear and refreshing with how hot the temperature can be. In the evening, you can watch the sunset or head to a beach bar to get yourself a free shot whilst having a go at the skipping rope or a game of limbo that aren't on fire.
A stop off for lunch on our boat tour |
Explore on a boat tour
There's a lot of boat tours available or you can get yourself on a private speedboat, whatever you decide. The tours tend to take you on a few snorkelling spots. You can see a lot of fish, the Viking Cave on Koh Phi Phi Le, and explore even more white sand beaches. With Maya Bay being closed, a lot of the tour boats can still take you there to see it even though you can't actually access the beach. The snorkelling is fun but around Maya Bay, the corals are bleached so that may not be the best place to choose.
Sunset views on our boat |
Snorkel with plankton in the night
It is quite scary waiting for it to be pitch black and then getting in the sea, but on a plankton trip, you can watch the amazing sunset Phi Phi has to offer before jumping into the sea. As soon as you get in, you'll see thousands of tiny microorganisms just lighting up around you as you move. They look nothing like Plankton from Spongebob! If you're lucky, you will also get to see the planet Mars in the very distance from your boat.

Phi Phi Viewpoint |
Hike to Phi Phi Viewpoint for sunrise
Maybe a 6am start seems tough and a hike sounds like the worst thing to wake up to. But if this is for you, it's a great way to spend a morning. You will feel great for hiking up the many steps or you can make your hike longer by following the 'road'. Be sure to take your mosquito spray so you can enjoy the views without feeling itchy!

Phi Phi's amazing waters |
Diving
If you're into diving, there are many dive shops on the island and instructors you can speak to for more information. I personally did not do this but heard many people speak of how amazing the waters were here and saw videos people had taken whilst exploring the underwater world. If you're not scared like me, go for it as I've heard too many people speak highly about it.
If you have even more time, you can take up a booze cruise or if that's not up your street, have a go at rock climbing on Tonsai Beach in Krabi. Phi Phi Islands has a lot of beauty to offer.
